“In one of my very early cases after I removed this young womans braces, she burst into tears. I had never had a patient really cry like that before. I thought I had done something to upset her, I hadn’t, she was just so happy with her new smile that she was openly sobbing. I knew then that what we do in orthodontics everyday is more than straighten teeth, we change peoples life.”
Dr Clark obtained his Bachelor of Dental Science from the Uni of Qld, graduating with honours, winning the Vardiman Study prize during his studies. He then embarked upon a career as a general dentist, for 10 years, working in the defence forces both in Australia and overseas as well as private practice and for other Government agencies.
This dental experience allowed him to access and use the very latest dental expertise placing his first dental implant in 1990 when implants were then “cutting edge”. As a specialist its important to know and understand what problems general dentists face, as well as the treatment other dental specialists can offer.
He obtained his Masters of Dental Science in 1997 from Sydney University and worked at Westmead Hospital, for other orthodontists and a major health fund to obtain further experience. He established Penrith Orthodontics in 2000. Since then the Penrith area has grown and Penrith Orthodontics has evolved to a leader in orthodontic treatment in Western Sydney. Dr Clark still lives in the Penrith area and takes a keen interest in ensuring that he maintains and delivers the latest and best possible treatments available to his patients. He continues to lecture both locally and overseas in South East Asia, China and the USA as part of the “Cutting Edge” dentistry group and is a convenor of the Nepean “Dental Ed” continuing education group.
“Over the years we know that most people want the same thing from their orthodontic treatment. They want the highest standard of care, delivered in a professional manner with staff that understand THEIR needs. They don’t want their braces on any longer than they are needed. They want cost-effective treatment that’s affordable and they want their doctor to run on time; and more so these days, somewhere easy (and free) to park.”
So it simple – that is our Practice Aim – to deliver the highest standard of orthodontic care possible in a cost-effective way, whilst maintaining the highest standard service.
